  4. To download an existing report, click the corresponding link in the Name column in the list of generated reports.

Licenses by OS

The report provides the number of active licenses by operating system. These operating systems are those reported by the servers on which licenses are installed.

To view licenses for a certain product, select the product in the Product box. Also, you can select operating system version details in the OS details box (a full version, such as “CentOS 6.5”, a major version, such as “CentOS 6”, or the operating system family, such as Unix).

To view the list of licenses, click the link in the Number of Licenses column.

Licenses by Product Version

The report provides the number of active licenses by product version. These versions are those reported by the servers on which licenses are installed.

To view licenses for a certain product, select the product in the Product box. Also, you can specify version details in the Version details box (a full version, such as 10.4.4, a major version, such as 10.0, or a version family, such as 10).

In the generated report, the number of licenses for a full version is presented as a total and also divided into groups according to installed updates, for example, 10.4.4 Update #5, 10.4.4 Update #10, and so on.

To view the list of licenses, click the link in the Number of Licenses column.

Plesk Multiuse Details Report

This chapter can help you in the following cases:

  • You have received a notification that your license key is used on multiple servers and you need to take actions.
  • You want to prevent anybody else from using your license keys.

What Is License Multiuse

A Plesk license key allows running a single Plesk server. Each Plesk server makes regular checks that it is using a valid license key. This allows us to detect situations when a single key is used on more than one server. Such situations are called “license multiuse”.

A license can be multiused for various reasons. These are some of the most probable:

  • You have accidentally installed a license key on multiple servers.
  • You have migrated your Plesk to a new server and forgot to turn off the source server.
  • Somebody else is using your license key on their server.

Generating and Downloading the Report

The “Plesk Multiuse Details” report provides detailed information about your license keys that are being multiused.

To download an existing report or generate a new report:

  1. Go to the Reports tab.
  2. On the tab click the Plesk Multiuse Details link. The list of reports previously generated by a current user will be displayed.
    • To generate a new multiuse report, click Generate Report on the toolbar, specify report parameters and click Generate. The report will appear in the list of generated reports. Once the status of the report becomes Ready, you will be able to download it.
    • To download an existing report, click the corresponding link in the Name column.

Finding the Multiused Keys and Plesk Instances

The downloaded .xlsx document has two tabs:

  • The Licenses tab allows you see your licence keys that are being multiused.
  • The Instances tab shows the Plesk instances (servers) that are using one of your multiused license keys.

Taking Actions

Your actions for each key depend on whether you own and control the servers, using the same license key.

For servers that belong to you:

  • Purchase a separate license for each server that you need.
  • Turn off the servers that you do not need.

If a server does not belong to you, most probably somebody else is using your license key on their server. Plesk provides a special control mechanism for this case – binding your license to the IP address of your server. It prevents third-party servers from using the same license key. Once you have bound a license to an IP, such third-party server will be deactivated after the next license check.

Checking The Results

It takes up to 42 days to update the information and confirm that a license key is not being multiused. Along this time you can generate new reports to view the updated information.
